Chomsky has been telling people to support Obama, just as in 2004 he supported Kerry.
In the interview I link to, he suggest that people in 'swing states' vote for Obama but that people in 'safe states' should vote Green or some other smaller party. I don't totally agree with him but it's a nuance worth pointing out.
