Just an FYI, they just ran an interview with this gentleman on NPR a few minutes ago, the book sounds really good. Also, there was a great story this morning about rebuilding one of the railway lines in DR Congo, an amazing task.
I can usually get DR Congo out when I'm writing, but when I remember the place I still think Zaire. I lived right on the river between CAR and Zaire and getting a boatload of Zairean beer from over the river was a always a treat, not to mention the latest Zairean music which blasted from every bar stereo. Still DR Congo sounds better than Congo/Kinshasa which is what many people called it right after the change to distinguish it from Congo/Brazzaville.
If memory serves, PC used to have it's region training site in Bukavu -- another place that has been in the news recently for non-wonderful reasons.
