I'm Jesus Christ and I approved this carnage
Alternet carried an interesting article by Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi. The first part of the piece is a bunch of nonsensical tripe. Skip down to the paragraph that begins 'Anyway,' which sort of tells you how irrelevant the first part was. The main part of the piece is where he talks about the new "Left Behind" video game which is based on the books of the same name. It's worth a read. At least the second half of it.

This Alternet piece reminded me of a (far better) article by Jeff Sharlet in the December Harper's, which also points to some very disturbing violent tendencies (all in the name of God, of course) among the Christian far right.
Mostly, though, I was struck by what a poor writer Matt Taibbi seems to be. Brian, you write a thousand times better than this guy. I have not read Rolling Stone in many years and suppose I might be shocked that this is a writer for such a "major" magazine. But any tendency toward surprise is tempered by vague memories of P.J. O'Rourke being something of a star there.
Best wishes for the holidays, Brian. I'm looking forward to another year of your fine blog.
Glenn, I agree that Taibbi is quite unimpressive for being the major investigative reporter in a prominent publication like RS. This piece was particularly bad but his other stuff is decidedly subpar.
