Revised commenting policy

The old commenting policy of this blog rejected publication of completely anonymous, unsigned comments.

The new commenting policy of this blog will publish anonymous, unsigned comments on the condition that they do not make serious allegations against a person or entity. If you wish to make serious allegations, then you should sign your comment.

If you have a serious allegation but wish to remain anonymous, please contact me via email with details and I may investigate in a journalistic fashion and report on it as appropriate: mofycbsj@yahoo.com

This blog will continue to reject comments that are potentially libelous or defamatory or that appear to be spam/ads.

A note about ads and about comments

This blog subscribes to the Google AdSense program. The theory being that maybe after a decade, I might be able to make a few dollars as a result of the 7 people who generously spend their time reading this blog.

One anonymous commenter* asked why s/he saw an ad that read: "Support Joe Bruno. Voice your support for Joe Bruno! Read the Truth."

Joe Bruno, of course, is the former longtime leader of the New York Senate's Republican majority who was recently indicted on public corruption charges.

The ads are not chosen by me. They are automatically generated by Google based on keywords of the content of the blog. Since I've used the word 'Republican' quite a bit in regards to Congressional candidate Jim Tedisco, I presume this is how this ad was linked to my blog.

*-Reminder: Although this blog's commenting policy bans unsigned comments for reasons I will not re-hash yet again, it does NOT ban anonymous ones. Nor does it require you to be a member of Blogger to comment. If you wish to leave a comment signing only a first name or nickname or pseudonym of your choice, you can do so by clicking on Post A Comment and then under Choose an Identity, click Name/URL. The URL part is optional. If you do it this way, I only ask that you use the same nickname/pseudonym each time you post for the sake of continuity.

Updated blog policy on commenting

Here's a hopefully clearer explanation of this blog's policy on commenting. Thanks for reader feedback on this issue.

I do accept anonymous comments, which means you can comment without signing your full name.

I do not accept unsigned comments, which means you have to sign it with something, even if just your first name or a nickname/pseudonym.

If you sign in via a Blogger account, that is sufficient.

If you do not have or wish to create a Blogger account, you can still post. Under 'Choose an Identity,' click 'Name/URL'. The URL is optional. But under 'Name,' you can include your full name or your first name. If you wish, you can also comment under a nickname/pseudonym.

Regardless of which you choose, I just ask that you use the same handle each time you post, so I can follow your line of reasoning.

Comments signed with a full name, first name or nickname/pseudonym will be accepted.

Comments that are completely unsigned will be rejected.

All signed comments will be published unless I consider them potentially libelous or defamatory or if they are spam/ads. If you are going to make serious allegations, you are strongly encouraged to provide evidence or attribution.

Obviously I ask readers to keep their comments pertinent to the topic of the essay in question or to the posted comments. In the unlikely event I reject your comment, you are welcome to contact me and ask why.

This blog will not publish anonymous comments. If you are not registered with Blogger, you can still leave comments if you leave them under a consistent nickname. Unsigned comments will be rejected.

Note to readers

I will publish comments from people without a Blogger account for the sake of expanding the debate. But if you don't have a blogger account, at least please sign your name or your first name or a nickname and use it consistently so I can follow a person's line of argument. I will not publish completely anonymous comments due to problems I've had in the past. Thank you.
